Special Education Tutor (High School - Reading, Communication & ASL)

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Monterey Park, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Monterey Park, CA
• Schedule: 25 hours, 5-6 sessions a week for 1-2 hours
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Credentialed teacher with experience supporting students with ASD and hearing differences.
• Knowledgeable in ASL and skilled in integrating it into academic instruction.
• Experienced in reading instruction, language development, and comprehension strategies for students performing below grade level.
• Patient, calm, and structured, with the ability to adapt lessons and interventions to the student’s individual learning profile.
• Creative and engaging, able to leverage student interests to encourage participation and learning.
• Familiar with strategies to manage frustration, self-injurious behaviors, and other emotional responses in students with ASD.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in reading fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking skills.
• Support expressive and receptive language and communication development, integrating ASL as appropriate.
• Use structured strategies, visual supports, timers, and reinforcement to manage frustration and build engagement.
• Implement routines and multi-sensory methods to support focus, retention, and task completion.
• Monitor academic progress and communicate effectively with caregivers and school personnel.
• Incorporate the student’s interests—Disney movies, drawing, schedules, and cartoons—into lesson activities to enhance motivation and engagement.
• Provide guidance and support for homework completion, particularly in the hybrid high school program.
