POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of mid-major donors ($2,500–$9,999), building and nurturing relationships to inspire long-term, sustainable support. This role identifies and engages prospective mid-major donors, implements a moves management process to encourage donor progression into higher giving levels, and supports the growth of Feeding Tampa Bay’s donor base through strategic acquisition and retention efforts. The Development Officer leverages donor data to refine fundraising strategies, ensures the integrity of donor records, and tracks progress toward annual revenue targets. Collaborating with the development team and leadership, this position plays a key role in advancing Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission to end hunger and create lasting community impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee a portfolio of up to 200 mid-major donors ($2,500–$9,999), ensuring effective stewardship and maintaining relationships with assigned prospective mid-major donors.
•  Build and nurture strong relationships with current and potential donors, fostering a culture of giving to inspire long-term, sustainable support. Proactively pursue donor acquisition through strategic efforts such as networking, outreach, and cold calling.
• Implement and execute a moves management strategy for each prospect to encourage progression into higher giving levels, including major and leadership gifts.
•  Identify and engage prospective mid-major donors within the existing donor pool, creating opportunities for upgraded giving and fostering enduring relationships.
•  Analyze donor data to track giving patterns, measure campaign performance, and optimize strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and growth.
• Track and report progress on assigned fundraising objectives, ensuring alignment with annual revenue targets and contributing to donor base growth.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Development, Donor Operations, to adhere to data hygiene practices, ensuring the accuracy and security of donor records.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance the effectiveness of development and fundraising initiatives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, annual giving, ideally within a nonprofit environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), as well as skills in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Proven ability to analyze data and extract actionable insights to inform strategies and decision-making.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a focus on continuous process improvement and innovation.
• A collaborative team player who can also work independently, exercising good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
• This position requires being in the office for 4 or more full workdays per week, based on team needs and at the direction of leadership.
• Flexibility to adjust work hours as needed, including evenings or weekends, to meet project deadlines and organizational needs.
• Current FTB employees must be in good standing and not on corrective action
