Job Description: 

This role is to execute Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs for the Ft Wayne location of L3Harris Technologies.  The role will report to the site EHS&S Lead. The role is completely onsite and not eligible for remote work.

Essential Functions:

• Assist site lead in integrating EHS&S into all aspects of the business, focusing on the balance between business needs and EHS&S priorities with an understanding of how to identify solutions that address the needs of both.


• Assist in implementation of all health and safety programs, including industrial hygiene, ergonomics, electrical safety, machine guarding, chemical safety, lockout, overhead hoists, lab safety, powered industrial trucks, fire safety, PPE, emergency preparedness, confined spaces, walking/working surfaces, first aid/CPR/AED, and OSHA records management.


• Assist in the Implemention of all environmental programs, including hazardous waste management, wastewater management, stormwater management, and air emissions management.


• Assist in the Implemention of all sustainability initiatives and coordinate data collection from all projects in which there are sustainability improvement opportunities.  Ensure all monthly and quarterly data reporting requirements are met prior to due dates.  Work diligently to identify new sustainability improvements for the site to meet Site, Sector, and Segment goals.


• Assist with interactions between L3Harris and EHS-related regulatory agencies during inspections, inquiries, and other events.


• Assist with injury case management, including implementation of conservative care, early intervention, and ergonomic improvements.  Ensure completion of injury and incident investigations with effective corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence.


• Work proactively with site lead to incorporate EHS&S into all elements of the business and meet established improvement targets.  Lead initiatives to identify and mitigate potential hazards before they can manifest as an issue.  Assist in the execution of site Zero Injury Plans and Sustainability Maturity Plans.


• Focus on continually improving the EHS&S programs at the site within its processes, systems, and procedures.


• Perform all other duties as assigned and maintain flexibility to support off-shift or weekend activities as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. 


• Minimum of 4 years of EHS&S experience in roles of increasing responsibility and leadership.


• Degree in a field related to EHS&S. Experience in roles of increasing responsibility and leadership.


• Secret-level security clearance or capable of attaining after hire.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to learn new software as needed.


• Familiarity with the Benchmark Gensuite software application.


• Experience with development and/or execution of ergonomics for light industrial manufacturing activities.


• Experience with assessing and ensuring effectivity of machine guarding.


• Strong interpersonal skills.


• Excellent and effective written/verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products at an advanced level.
