Hannaford Supermarkets started out as a fresh produce vendor in Portland, Maine way back in 1883, and is still connected to those early roots as a local market. Hannaford actively seeks out farmers and producers to join our Local program which celebrates not only local foods, but the preservation of farmland, local traditions and local jobs. The connection we have to the source of our fresh foods is core to the way we do business, becoming the first major supermarket in the United States to document that all its seafood products were sustainably harvested.


 


Hannaford offers a flexible work environment, with a hybrid work expectation for Home Office based positions of being physically present at the Scarborough, ME Home Office a minimum of three (3) days a week. This expectation serves to nourish our culture, showcase care through flexibility, and strengthen our partnerships.


 


Position Summary:


Reporting to the Manager Brand Design, the Graphic Designer is responsible for developing compelling, customer-focused creative that supports Hannaford's brand, marketing, loyalty, and business objectives across all customer touchpoints.


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Translate business strategies and customer insights into compelling creative solutions for a variety of mediums including print and digital.

  • Ensure all creative assets are accurate, visually engaging, and aligned with business objectives.

  • Maintain and champion Hannaford's brand identity across all customer touchpoints by ensuring adherence to brand standards, creative guidelines, visual systems, and logo usage standards.

  • Work closely with other creatives, photographers and cross-functional leaders to achieve a high level of quality in all design and creative work.

  • Assist with photo shoots, production, revisions, resizing, versioning, and asset preparation across multiple projects.

  • Help create design templates to drive efficiencies.

  • Work closely with Production leads and manage workload in our workflow trafficking system for on-time delivery of all creative assets. 

  • Maintain organized file structures and asset management processes.


 


Qualifications and Experience:


• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent experience


• 3-5 years of relevant experience


• Demonstrated portfolio showing strong design thinking, typography, layout, and visual storytelling


• Strong understanding of print production and file preparation


• Working knowledge of digital and social media design


• Strong knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator


• Experience with Apple's OS, Mac Computers and Microsoft Office Suite


• A link to your portfolio is required


 


Preferred:



  • Experience in a marketing/design firm with retail clients

  • Experience in Adobe Workfront and Adobe Experience Manager

  • Experience creating compelling PowerPoints

  • Working knowledge of all primary social media platforms


 


Skills and Abilities:



  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

  • Participate in creative ideation and concept development sessions.

  • Proactively solicit feedback to continually improve and evolve the work.

  • Effective at selling their ideas and explaining the business rationale that supports their design direction.

  • Solid understanding of design principles and current trends.

  • Strong conceptual thinking and creative problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Highly collaborative and team oriented.

  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication skills.


 


The salary range for this position is: $63,440/year to $95,160/year.
