Under the direction of the PC / CSU Mechanical Manager the purpose of the CSU Mechanical Static Equipment Specialist is to oversee and manage the activities of the CSU Mechanical Team in the planning, execution, and quality control of the day-to-day activities of preserving, Catalyst/Desiccant installation, vessel internals installation, commissioning, start-up, and maintenance of static equipment in area assigned. This is a contract position located in Cameron, LA.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all preservations, installations, commissioning, start-up, and maintenance of the new static equipment are by the Engineering Specifications/Detail Drawings and according to Manufacturers Specifications/Detail Drawings, Data Sheets and industry pressure vessel codes and standards.
- Coordinates all activities with the respective area construction and commissioning supervision.
- Coordinates all support craft required to accomplish assigned work.
- Coordinates all Material Loadings in Static Equipment
- Coordinates all potential material and catalyst change-outs for maintenance purposes.
- Coordinates all Subcontractor activities as required.
- Specify required parts, materials, and arranges for their delivery to locations as required.
- Assist in problem identification and diagnostics.
- Capable of written and verbal reports describing daily activities.
- Ensures compliance with all Safety, Environmental Policies and Procedures.
- Direct supervision of PC&CSU Mechanical Supervisors
- Shares responsibility for the quality assurance of all static equipment preserved, installed, commissioned, start-up and maintained on the Project.
- Participates in job preplanning, work scope and critical path planning. Integrate critical path with area construction principals to reduce idle time.
- Records record keeping for work performed on all new static equipment. This includes electronically written reports provided to Safety, QA/QC, and Management to help in maintaining all procedures, drawings, manuals for all static equipment.
- Monitoring the experience level of all Team Personnel as required for providing a safe and efficient workplace. Working with the appropriate Management/Disciplines to assure training and proper procedures are followed and maintained.
- Monitoring Personnel to evaluate their job performance, keeping Management informed on current evaluation of employee’s performance.
- Be willing to help troubleshoot or repair quality problems and determine solutions. Being pro-active and self-motivated to head off problems before they occur.
- Assist in maintaining records on jobs, equipment problems, procedure changes, etc.
- Recognizes and responds to the Construction Project’s needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate to Safety the specific hazards involved in each material loading.
- Supports, practices, and implements written standards and goals.
Qualifications:
- Ten years’ experience of hands-on experience in all new static equipment installations and maintenance in a construction or industrial facility.
- Five years of hands-on experience in hazardous material handling and vessel material change-outs involving IDLH Confined Space Entry.
- Established supervisory and planning skills for the installation of all types of static equipment.
- Established supervisory and planning skills for hazardous material handling and catalyst change outs.
- Good computer skills are necessary.
- Strong human relations skills are imperative, must be able to read and write in English so that information can be exchanged in a clear and efficient manner.
Reasoning Ability
- Problems encountered can be repetitive and non-repetitive. Solutions to technical and non-technical mechanical problems are required. The CSU Mechanical Static Equipment Specialist needs to recognize when to get Safety, QA/QC, and Management involved in solving a complex problem.
