Specialty Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up instruments, equipment, and materials for specialty procedures


• Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards in compliance with regulations


• Assist the dentist with four-handed dentistry during specialty procedures


• Support clinical and lab tasks as directed


• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked operatory


• Take and update accurate patient records


• Assist with patient communication and payment procedures as needed

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong knowledge of dental instruments, specialty procedures, and sterilization methods


• Understanding of health and safety regulations


• Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks (e.g., coronal polishing) is an asset


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail


• High school diploma required; graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting program preferred


• Additional certifications or specialty training are considered an asset (e.g., OSMA/OA)
