Job Description - Speech Language Pathologist 25/26 SY

Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools (ALCS) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team of educators committed to transforming the lives of scholars through high-quality instruction and individualized support. As a vital member of our student services team, the Speech-Language Pathologist will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to assess, diagnose, and provide therapeutic interventions for scholars with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. A school speech-language pathologist (SLP) will provide evaluations, diagnoses, and intervention for students with speech, language, and swallowing disorders, ensuring they have a free and appropriate public education. This candidate will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and provide therapy services to support scholars' communication development. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    Conducting speech and language evaluations to identify scholars with communication disorders, including speech sound disorders, language disorders, and swallowing difficulties. 
  • Intervention and Therapy:
    Developing and implementing individualized therapy plans, providing direct therapy services to scholars both individually and in small groups, and adapting therapy methods as needed. 
  • Collaboration:
    Working closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop IEPs, provide consultation, and support scholars' communication needs in the classroom and other school environments. 
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    Maintaining accurate records of scholar progress, attending IEP meetings, and providing insights on scholar progress and needed adaptations. 
  • Advocacy and Support:
    Educating scholars and parents about speech-language development and strategies to support communication, advocating for scholars' needs within the school setting, and referring scholars to appropriate agencies or services when needed. 

Additional Duties:
  • Administering standardized tests to diagnose speech and language disorders.
  • Staying current with research and best practices in the field.
  • Participating in professional development activities.
  • Assisting in the development of school-wide speech and communication initiatives.
  • Providing consultation and support to other educators and staff.
  • Participating in school-wide initiatives, such as Response to Intervention (RTI).
  • Ensuring that all activities conform to district and cooperative guidelines.
