Schedule: 4 weekday shifts per 2 week pay period.
Position Summary
Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients/residents according to the principles and practices of speech therapy.
Primary Duties
1. Examines, tests, diagnoses and administers remedial treatments for patients with speech disorders.
2. Performs evaluations with special attention to receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, auditory skills, cognitive linguistic skills, and swallowing disorders.
3. Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process.
4. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
5. Discusses patient care programs with other specialists, including nurses and physicians. Notifies other specialists of recommendations regarding changing treatment programs or suggesting treatments not originally ordered by physician..
6. Prepares written documentation as required by profession and department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes and other such reports
7. Develops and maintains long and short term treatment goals for each patient. Re-evaluates and modifies treatment programs as indicated.
8. Gathers data related to patient’s communication disorder, selects appropriate evaluation tool(s) for the purpose of assessment, and administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of the patient’s impairment and the prognosis for improvement.
9. Consults with physicians on patient’s progress, maintains appropriate records.
10. Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of all age groups.
11. Performs above primary duties for ages adolescent through older adults.
Physical demands:
• May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, body fluids and wastes
• Prolonged standing/walking, bending and squatting
• Must be able to position equipment

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:
• Current California Speech Therapy License
• Master’s Degree in speech-language pathology
• Current BLS CPR certification
