Position: Speech-Language Pathologist

Grade(s): Kindergarten-8th Grade

Reports to: Director of Student Support Services

 

United Schools (United) is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio. United currently operates two high-performing elementary schools (K-5) and two high-performing middle schools (6-8) that serve more than 900 students. We strive to provide students with a rigorous academic experience in a joyful learning environment, and we work hard to ensure that students of all levels grow and succeed by focusing on intentional student support and continual improvement. 

 

Position Description
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) role provides an opportunity for a talented educator to work with students with speech and language needs. The SLP will provide direct services to students with speech and language goals in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) across four United campuses. They will also consult with general education teachers, evaluate students who may be entering special education, serve on the IEP team for students with speech and language goals, and complete required special education paperwork such as progress reports. This position is integral in ensuring that all students have access to high-quality educational experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Holds a valid Professional Pupil Services License as a School Speech-Language Pathologist from the State Board of Education in Ohio.
  • Holds a valid Speech-Language Pathologist license from the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board.
  • Has at least two years of successful SLP experience in an urban school (preferred).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity in working with children with a range of speech and language disorders, including articulation disorders, language delays, and social communication challenges.
  • Experience conducting ETR evaluations and writing IEP goals as well as progress monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Ability to design and implement individualized treatment plans and monitor student progress.
  • Is committed to using data-driven instructional practices and the techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes.
  • Is relentless in writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments.
  • Is open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team members.
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities.

Terms of Employment

  • Although this position will begin July 27, 2026, applications will be considered immediately.
  • This is a full-time position. 
  • Report times are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., although some job-related tasks can be expected outside of these hours.
  • Salary: The starting salary for a new Speech-Language Pathologist with a Master’s degree is $51,000. The starting salary for other applicants will depend on professional experience and education level.
