Splunk ITSI Administrator / Core Consultant
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Position Overview:
We are looking for a versatile Splunk ITSI Administrator / Core Consultant to support the
implementation, configuration, and operation of Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) and
core Splunk platform functionalities for the IRIS monitoring project. This role combines
hands-on administration of Splunk ITSI with advanced search, dashboard development,
and data integration expertise to deliver a comprehensive, real-time monitoring solution in
a regulated, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Configure and administer Splunk ITSI components including service trees, glass
tables, KPIs, thresholds, aggregation policies, and alerting mechanisms to enable
proactive monitoring.
• Design, develop, and optimize Splunk searches, queries, dashboards, and reports
to provide actionable insights and facilitate root cause analysis.
• Manage data ingestion pipelines, integrating logs, metrics, and other telemetry from
diverse sources into the Splunk platform.
• Integrate Splunk ITSI and core Splunk with external systems such as incident
management, alerting platforms, and APIs to enable automated workflows.
• Support configuration, testing (unit, end-to-end, load), deployment, and ongoing
maintenance of the Splunk ITSI monitoring environment.
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, business analysts, and project
managers to translate monitoring requirements into effective Splunk solutions.
• Troubleshoot Splunk environment issues related to searches, data ingestion,
performance, and integrations.
• Document configurations, searches, workflows, and best practices to ensure
knowledge sharing and maintainability.
• Provide user training and support to enable internal teams to operate and optimize
the monitoring solution post-deployment.
Required Qualifications:
• Certifications:
o Must hold Splunk ITSI Certified Admin and Splunk Core Certified
Consultant certifications.
• Experience:
o Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing and managing
Splunk ITSI and core Splunk solutions.
o Proven experience working with enterprise-scale clients in regulated or
mission-critical environments.
• Technical Skills:
o Expertise in Splunk ITSI configuration, including KPI and service health
modeling.
o Strong proficiency with Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL),
dashboarding, and reporting.
o Experience designing and maintaining data ingestion and integration
pipelines.
o Familiarity with Splunk integration with external APIs and incident
management systems.
o Solid understanding of infrastructure and application monitoring concepts.
• Soft Skills:
o Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and business
teams.
o Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional
teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with monitoring maturity frameworks such as LUSA Gold standard or
equivalent.
• Experience with Agile development processes and sprint-based delivery.
• Prior involvement in user training and documentation efforts.
