Spotsylvania Animal Hospital is looking for a full or part time Veterinary Assistant to join their team. At SAH we strive to foster a positive, welcoming culture that feels like family. 

Job Description:

The veterinary assistant works closely with the veterinary technician and veterinarian. The veterinary assistant must be able to follow instructions quickly and handle animals of various temperaments in situations that can be less than ideal. In addition, veterinary assistants take care of our patients’ needs within treatment areas. Veterinary Assistants are also responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and odor free facility and grounds. The hospital must be clean and presentable at all times to ensure a comfortable environment for our patients and clients.

Job Tasks / Essential Functions:

• Assist technician in preparing surgery suite and patient for any surgical procedures.


• Assist with taking radiographs.


• Run in-house labwork as directed by DVM or LVT.


• Provide patient information as directed by veterinary technicians or veterinarian.


• Provide personal assistance, attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, clients and patients. 


• Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with co-workers and clients.


• Maintain cleanliness of hospital, parking lot, and grassy areas.


• Fill medications as directed by DVM or LVT.


• Cross-train in reception and be able to process all payment types.
