SQA Engineer I - Hybrid

SQA Engineer is a position within the Passport Feature Team responsible for Quality Assurance activities and on-time delivery of new and legacy Applause media features and solutions. This position requires the ability to analyze, test, automate and qualify Applause Media solutions and various servers to ensure proper functionality and implementation. Additional responsibilities include developing test plans, test scripts, automation of test scripts, participating in the QA activities for a feature and/or major release and provide customer support by troubleshooting the site issues.

What You Will Do (Job Responsibilities)

Work with Product Owners/management to review user stories and develop robust acceptance criteria that includes alternate, positive, and negative test scenarios following and support Engineering Agile processes.

Design and develop tests based on user stories, use cases, other requirements sources, technical specifications, and non-functional requirements

Automate manual tests where possible - works with automation engineers to automate user story and user story integration tests, if necessary

Execute user story acceptance testing and review results with the Product Owners and team, including API testing, UI testing, Software and Firmware functions, etc.

Analyze issues found during testing and collaborate with the team to resolve them.

Track, report and verify software defects to ensure the resolution of issues found.

Execute regression testing as needed, working to continually increase automation coverage.

Provide production support to customers.

Troubleshoot site servers and control centres.

The base compensation range for this position is $66K to $80K per year. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon a number of factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.

Bachelor’s degree in CS/ME/EE preferred OR 1-3 years of technical QA experience

Experience working as part of an agile development team (Scrum, Pi) doing in-sprint test design, execution and some automation.

Experience working closely with product owners or BAs writing user story acceptance criteria.

Experience using Jira.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Experience reporting test metrics and status

Experience creating PHP scripts and Linux commands.

Test automation or scripting is a plus.

Able to work in an efficient and timely manner.

Technically astute with interest in acquiring knowledge through experience.
