SQL Server Migration Specialist

About This Opportunity

CTI Staffing is partnering with a leading manufacturing organization to find a SQL Server Migration Specialist for their IT infrastructure team based in Burlington, NC.

This team is executing a full database platform upgrade, moving critical reporting and data integration infrastructure onto a modern SQL Server foundation while laying groundwork for cloud-based data workflows. This is a hands-on technical seat where your migration work directly protects business-critical reporting and data pipelines during the transition.

What You'll Do

• Lead migration of SQL Server reporting infrastructure from a legacy version to SQL Server 2022
  


• Migrate and optimize data integration packages to the new SQL Server 2022 platform
  


• Assess and redesign select data integration workflows for cloud-based data platforms
  


• Build custom scripts and utilities in VB.NET or C#.NET to support migration and post-migration operations
  


• Write and optimize complex queries and stored procedures using T-SQL and PL-SQL
  


• Test and validate all migrated components for data integrity and functionality
  


• Document migration processes, configurations, and lessons learned
  


• Work independently while maintaining regular stakeholder communication
  

Requirements

What You Bring

Must-Have:

• 5+ years of professional experience with SQL Server administration, development, or migration projects
  


• Hands-on experience with both legacy and current-generation SQL Server environments
  


• Production experience migrating reporting services (SSRS) and integration packages (SSIS)
  


• Experience redesigning and migrating data integration workflows to a cloud-based data platform
  


• Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PL-SQL query development and optimization
  


• Solid programming skills in VB.NET and/or C#.NET
  


• Experience with database migration planning, execution, and validation methodologies
  


• Must be a US Citizen (client regulatory requirement — no exceptions)
  

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with SQL Server 2019 or other intermediate versions
  


• Familiarity with Azure SQL Database or other Azure data services
  


• Knowledge of data warehousing or business intelligence platforms
  


• Experience with migration tools such as SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA)
  


• Relevant SQL Server or Azure certifications
  

Technical Environment:

• SQL Server 2016 & 2022, SSRS, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, T-SQL, PL-SQL, VB.NET, C#.NET
