Job Description - Sr Business Development Associate

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


· Strategic Planning & Market Analysis:


o Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with Signals commercial strategy and company objectives.


o Evaluate potential business opportunities by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, and creating bid-to-win strategy.


o Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape in the solar EPC industry.


o Evaluate potential markets and new business opportunities.


o Attend industry events and represent Signal Energy to the industry in a professional capacity.


o Participate in weekly project meetings to identify lessons learned to incorporate into future proposals and contracts.


· Revenue Growth & Sales Leadership:


o Support in the development and submission of customer prequalification’s.


o Drive revenue growth by identifying, targeting, and securing high-value projects and partnerships.


o Support the Preconstruction team in the preparation and submission of proposals, RFQs, and RFPs for Business Development related items.


o Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet client requirements.


· Partnership & Relationship Management:


o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, government agencies, utilities, and financial institutions.


o Negotiate and finalize non-disclosure agreements with stakeholders.


o When necessary, support Preconstruction team in evaluating commercial decisions in support of EPC Contract negotiations.


o Be an internal advocate for our customer’s ensuring Signal is maintaining a comprehensive, supportive and collaborative approach to meet their needs.


o Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.


o Maintain contact with Clients to ensure expectations are being met.


· Cross-Functional Collaboration:


o Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to ensure seamless project delivery.


o Provide feedback to internal teams regarding market demands, customer insights, and competitor activities.


· Leadership & Team Development:


o Lead and participate in department and company initiatives.


o As we grow this role will support in building and managing a high-performing business development team.


o Mentor and support team members in achieving sales targets and professional growth.


o Educate the Organization through reporting out on findings and lessons learned through role activities.


Qualifications:


· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (MBA preferred).


· 5+ years of experience in business development, preferably within the solar or renewable energy sector.


· Proven track record of successfully closing large-scale EPC contracts or renewable energy projects.


· Strong understanding of solar EPC project lifecycles, financing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks.


· Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.


· Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.


· Proficiency in CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and other business software.


Preferred Skills and Attributes:


· Established network within the renewable energy and solar EPC sectors.


· Knowledge of emerging solar technologies and sustainability trends.


· Experience in navigating complex regulatory and permitting processes.


· Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and track multiple, concurrent, high impact activities.


· Strong communication skills with the capability to cultivate strong relationships internally and externally.


· Fluency with EPC contracts, including legal, commercial, and technical terms.


· Strong understanding of scheduling and risk management principles.


· Proficient in budget and cash flow analyses.


· Creative problem solver; ability to balance tactical and strategic decisions.


· Strong math and analytical skills.


· Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Signal Core Values.
