Job Details
The Senior Cloud Engineer is a vital member of a small team dedicated to ensuring that our systems are observable, secure, reliable, cost-effective, performant, and operationally excellent. This role requires a versatile individual who can contribute to development, system operations, observability testing, performance optimization, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) development. The Cloud Engineer is adept at tackling new engineering challenges, proposing potential solutions, and collaborating within a team environment. This position drives our organization's transition to modern observability practices for applications and infrastructure. Additionally, it carries the responsibility of leading and nurturing the professional growth of the team.
Primary expectations include:
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) development primarily leveraging AWS services
Extracting and enriching data from many data sources, including but not limited to ServiceNow, Atlassian Jira, Security tools, Observability tools, and Code repositories
Create visualizations leveraging dashboarding tools
Maintain and build infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), pipelines, and source code management
Addressing the most intricate challenges encountered by the team's systems
Developing innovative tools or processes to tackle complex problems
Advocating for and modeling best observability practices for junior team members
Mentoring junior team members on their journey in observability engineering
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the products managed by the team
Ensuring consistency in process implementation across multiple applications
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in infrastructure development and software support
Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools and concepts for integrating and processing data in cloud environments
Experience with pipeline processes and implementation (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins)
Previous experience architecting cloud-native solutions on AWS
Experience managing cloud infrastructure on AWS
Proficiency in Linux operating systems
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Java, or PowerShell
Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
Experience with code repository tools such as Git for version control and collaboration.
Nice to have:
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodology
Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, particularly AWS services
Comprehensive understanding of various infrastructure platforms and concepts
Understanding of general networking concepts (e.g., CDN, WAF, DNS, PKI)
Knowledge of security policy implementation and maintenance
Understanding of backup and disaster recovery concepts
Experience in a production environment supporting mission-critical applications
Familiarity with standard production practices, including change management
