As the

Director, Copyright,

you'll be responsible for leading a team of four employees across two core functions.

Primary responsibilities include managing and overseeing the complete end-to-end processing of Concords US music publishing agreements as well as all information requests submitted to Concord.

Other responsibilities include optimizing and improving processes and procedures, identifying new technology and tools and helping to strategically coordinate with senior leadership and partners across Concords global teams.

The ideal candidate for this role is a solution-oriented, strategic, and collaborative leader with a proven demonstration of developing and managing productive teams that effectively drive improvement.

You are equally adept at solving problems analytically as you are creatively and have exceptional attention to detail.

You can balance what to handle directly versus what to delegate to team members. You are committed to delivering best-in-class client service to Concords songwriters and artists. A growth mindset as well as someone who effectively works under general direction is critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities:
What youll do:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of two core US Copyright functions at Concord Music Publishing:

Deal Processing and Information Service.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the complete end-to-end processing of Concords US music publishing agreements (e.g., new Publishing, new Master, Modification, Extension, and Joint Venture agreements as applicable)

Setup of clients, rates and agreement information in Concords internal systems.
Liaising and following up with internal stakeholders as necessary on incomplete information
Review/verification of data entered by other members of the deal processing team
Feedback on setup and notification of agreements to internal deal stakeholders
Research inquiries related to royalty rates raised by clients or internal staff
Handle data updates and cleanup (e.g., IP, client, rate data)
Initiate any required royalty adjustments

Oversee the management and handling of all information requests from internal and external business partners

Review and respond to dispute, counterclaim, confirmation of claim and all other requests
Thoroughly review, research and resolve rights inquiries, ensuring best-in-class customer service is provided to Concord clients, business partners and internal customers

Help design and implement process, workflow and technology improvements
Help establish and report KPIs and SLAs for each area of responsibility
General day-to-day management includes recruiting, hiring, onboarding and retention of staff; ensuring processes and tasks are delivered upon agreed timelines and standards; defining project parameters and progress metrics;

input for the development of the department budget; setting goals and evaluating performance
Maintain and develop relationships with internal stakeholders and external business partners, including collective management organizations, digital service companies, record labels and other income sources
Handle and/or manage ad-hoc projects as business needs dictate or as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:
What youll need:
Bachelors Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 7+ years of music publishing/copyright administration experience
Minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated leadership in building, developing, and adapting functional and productive teams, including ability to lead, delegate and position team for maximum efficiency and productivity
Collaborative team-player, with the ability to coordinate and work with direct reports, team-members, colleagues and partners
Proven track record of implementing technology and process improvements
Demonstrated experience in developing and providing metrics/reporting to senior leadership and management
Solution-oriented with strong problem-solving skills with a drive for constant improvement.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to articulate and explain complex information, adapting presentation and focus to varying audiences
Proven ability to navigate a fluid and dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Serve as an escalation point for staff and have an acute understanding of when to escalate further
Actively work to remove roadblocks that are preventing team members from success in their tasks
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (i.e., lookup functions, pivot tables, cleaning data, conditional formatting)
SQL and other database management querying skills a plus
*This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
