Job Description - Sr Director, Employee Relations

We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. They partner closely with executive leadership and HR centers of excellence to foster a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture. The Sr Director leads a team of Employee Relations professionals, oversees complex and high-risk matters, and ensures alignment with organizational values and business goals.\n\nJob Description:\n\nEssential Responsibilities: \n\n * Define and lead the global employee relations strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational culture, legal compliance, and business objectives.\n * Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and HR leaders on complex employee relations issues, risk mitigation, and organizational change.\n * Lead and develop a high-performing team of Employee Relations professionals, providing strategic direction, coaching, and support.\n * Oversee the design and implementation of enterprise-wide programs that enhance manager capability, employee engagement, and workplace culture.\n * Establish governance frameworks, policies, and metrics to monitor and continuously improve employee relations practices.\n * Partner with Legal, Compliance, and HR teams to manage investigations, regulatory matters, and high-risk cases with consistency and integrity.\n * Drive proactive initiatives to identify trends, reduce risk, and promote a respectful and inclusive work environment.\n * Represent the organization in external forums and with regulatory bodies as needed.\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * 12+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor\u2019s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\n\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\nAdditional Responsibilities:\n\n * Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and HR leaders on complex employee relations issues, risk mitigation, and organizational change.\n\n\n\nAdditional Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree required; advanced degree in HR, Employment Law, Business, or related field strongly preferred (JD, MBA, or equivalent a plus).\n * Proven ability to balance a pragmatic drive for solutions while upholding the highest ethical and compliance standards\n * Analytical mindset and the ability to apply data-driven insights to inform decision-making and develop proactive strategies\n * Ability to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.\n * Strong conflict resolution skills, with a track record of successfully resolving employee disputes\n * Knowledge of best practices in employee relations, including disciplinary procedures and separations, grievance handling, and workplace investigations with experience managing in a Global environment\n * Knowledge and practical familiarity of U.S., EMEA and APAC employment law and frameworks, including investigations best practices and regulatory considerations\n * Experience partnering directly with executive leadership (VP+), Legal, Compliance, and HR Centers of Excellence on organizational risk, culture transformation, and complex people matters.\n\n\n\nSubsidiary:\n\nPayPal\n\nTravel Percent:\n\n0\n\n-\n\nThe base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:\n\nPrimary Location | Pay Range:\n\nSan Jose, California | ($218,000.00 - $323,950.00 Annually)\n\nAdditional Location(s) | Pay Range:\n\nChicago, Illinois | ($198,000.00 - $294,250.00 Annually)\u0026#xa;\n\nAdditional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.\n\nPayPal does not charge candidates any fees for courses, applications, resume reviews, interviews, background checks, or onboarding.
