Sr. Director, Managing Counsel- Investment Management

JD and licensed to practice in NY, MA or PA. 12+ years of relevant experience. Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a team of high-performing legal professionals including managing performance assessments, development and underperformance, pastoral skills and an ability to deal sensitively with difficult or stressful situations. Experience in developing best practice to positively impact the performance of the team. Strong written and oral communication skills. A clear communicator that is able to deliver legal advice in layman's terms and lead discussions with senior leadership. Significant experience in dealing with RIAs with good technical skills including sound knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and related SEC rules/regulation applicable to RIAs. Ability to deal with a varied workload in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to manage and prioritize across a large volume of complex matters with competing deadlines and different internal stakeholders. Experience in overseeing/leading on complex strategic programs and regulatory change initiatives and acting as the key point of contact. Ability to manage cross-border matters involving multiple jurisdictions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The individual should be pragmatic and someone who looks for solutions rather than obstacles. The legal team is seen as a business partner and the successful candidate will be comfortable relating to and dealing with business colleagues as the role will involve frequent interaction with business colleagues. Ability to identify and manage legal risks and good judgement in consulting with and escalating risk issues appropriately. A team player. The ability to work harmoniously and responsively with one's colleagues and clients is an essential pre-requisite for the role.
