Title:  Senior Economic Development Consultant
Client:  Federal Agency
Location: Washington, D.C.
Clearance:  Public Trust
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance; the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Work Day:  Monday – Friday

We are seeking an experienced senior economic development consultant to lead strategic initiatives aimed at fostering rural economic growth. The ideal candidate will develop and implement comprehensive economic development plans, conduct in-depth market research, and provide actionable recommendations to drive sectoral expansion, particularly in agribusiness and agritourism. This role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of rural economies.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and execution of a rural economy strategic plan and implementation roadmap.
Conduct benchmarking studies, market research, and sector growth analysis to identify opportunities and challenges.
Provide strategic recommendations to stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofits, and private sector partners.
Evaluate and assess the agribusiness and agritourism sectors to inform policy and investment decisions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with broader economic development goals.
Prepare reports, presentations, and policy briefs to communicate findings and progress to key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
5+ years of professional experience in economic development, rural studies, or a related field.
Proven experience in agribusiness and agritourism sector evaluations.
Strong research, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with GIS, economic modeling, or data visualization tools.
Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or economic development organizations.
Knowledge of grant writing, funding strategies, or public-private partnerships.
