Job Description - Sr Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

What You Will Contribute:

The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for completing the manufacturing deliverables for New Product Development Projects specializing in meters, registers, endpoints, or gateways (or a combination). The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be the primary lead on a project and responsible for following the established process, completing deliverables on time, and communicating status and roadblocks to the project manager. The Senior Engineer will mentor newer engineers in their projects and may delegate tasks as appropriate. The incumbent will identify and solve manufacturing challenges that arise during projects. The incumbent will be required to work cross-functionally and must be comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization. The Senior Engineer will also be a technical expert in a manufacturing technology (ex: leak testing, laser engraving, etc) ensuring standardization, documentation, and improvement of processes across the organization.

Essential Duties:
Work independently on tasks and processes, suggesting and driving improvements to processes, and mentoring others on existing tasks and processes.
Act as manufacturing lead on New Product Development teams, focusing on larger or more complex projects; working with and communicating to cross- functional project teams.
Research and integrate safe, reliable, and cost-effective equipment and processes that assure products are produced at established safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Review and improve existing manufacturing business processes; create simple new ones as required; identify opportunities for productivity improvements or automation.
Use established NPD process and Manufacturing Engineering deliverables to ensure the plant is sufficiently prepared to accept the new product; improvise when established processes do not exist with the intention of creating them.
Apply Six Sigma and Statistical Process Control principles to existing processes to drive reduction in variation and yield improvement.
Lead the project management process for manufacturing-based projects to ensure projects meet cost and timing objectives.
Apply Badger Meter safety policies to all projects and equipment.
Must be willing to work 50% of the time on the Manufacturing Floor, and 50% of the time at the desk.
Must be willing to travel up to 10-15% of the year to Mexico or vendor sites in the US (typically, 3-4 trips to Badger Meter's Mexico Manufacturing site).
Experience in the assembly line and automation processes, maintenance, and implementation

Research, evaluate, and implement new manufacturing, assembly, test, and pack technologies that place Badger Meter Inc. in a position of technological leadership to enhance the quality, reliability, and value of products and services to the customer while improving the cost position of the company

Create written procedures that support high-quality processes and capable equipment

Maintain current testing and assembly processes and implement new testing and assembly processes to meet standards
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field; Green belt preferred
5 years related experience
Previous experience with electronic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes required.
Strong design and analytics skills
Advanced foundation in engineering fundamentals
Demonstrated expertise in at least one product and/or discipline
