Sr. Financial Analyst - Rapid Progression

Areas of focus will include development of annual budget; performing ad hoc analysis and making recommendations for improvements in the business; and various special projects. This role will help to analyze and monitor processes critical to the success of the business as well as developing analytics/metrics that will assist in ensuring the future success of SPI. The role will involve helping to manage and analyze the following activities:

• Building, maintaining, and communicating the annual budgets for 60 distribution warehouses, 15 fabrication shops, and 5 overhead departments
• Administrator of the financial reporting system (Planful)
• Daily and weekly reporting on key financial metrics, such as Sales, Gross Margin, AR DSO, AP DPO, Inventory DOH, Overtime, Temp Labor.
• Develop a quarterly forecast process
• Month-end responsibilities include accrual calculations, validation of P&Ls, variance analysis, preparation of the monthly/quarterly presentation to senior management, among others.
• Calculate quarterly incentive plan for operational personnel
• Help drive improved operational performance through the development of key metrics for inclusion in scorecards across the assigned organizations
• Primary point person for all P&L related questions and topics
• Provide analytical support for ongoing business initiatives
• Provide analytical support to corporate and branch personnel as needed
• Manage all special projects and ad hoc analyses with efficiency and enthusiasm
• Using knowledge of information systems, create reports and analysis of data for the business

Requirements

• Experience in decentralized/matrix organization where leadership and a strong sense of team is essential to success. Ability to build productive, respectful working relationships across the business with field associates who are not direct reports
• Comfortable with a high level of autonomy
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to “drill down” into the details

• Academic credentials should include an undergraduate degree in business, economics, finance or similar. A graduate degree (M.B.A.) or other advanced study desirable
• Outstanding communication skills – both verbal and written. Capable of making presentations to the senior leadership team, key suppliers, branch/district/regional management and staff/project teams.
