Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant - Remote

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant!\n\n \n\nAbout the Role\n\nSymetra\u0027s Enterprise Financial Reporting department is looking to add a new Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to our external reporting team. The Senior Accountant will have the unique opportunity to work with a variety of people throughout the organization, building relationships in Finance, Actuarial and Business Areas. A student of the business, you\u0027ll develop in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, investments, and other complex issues. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in preparing and reviewing Symetra\u0027s quarterly and annual GAAP and Statutory financial statements, analyzing quarterly results, and preparing/reviewing other external and management reports. They will also support the team in performing technical accounting research and analysis as well as executing internal controls. \n\n \n\nAn ideal candidate should enjoy deep collaboration across multiple teams and have the ability to build relationships with business partners. They have high expectations for themselves with the ambition to exceed them!\n\n \n\n \n\nWhat you will do \n\n * Prepare and review the Company\u0027s GAAP and Statutory Financial Statements and External Reports \n * Start-to-finish ownership of report content and presentation\n * Prepare and review tie-out support gathered from multiple departments \n * Coordinate independent auditor\u0027s review of the financial statements and tie-out support \n * Benchmark peers to recommend and apply best practices\n * Develop technical expertise to understand and apply relevant GAAP and Statutory reporting requirements \n * Research and facilitate implementation of new GAAP and Statutory reporting requirements\n * Coordinate preparation and review of quarterly internal results analysis \n * Execute internal controls and maintain related documentation for external reporting\n * Prepare accounting memos and policies \n * Perform technical accounting research related to new or complex transactions or in support of other departments \n * Stay current with developments in the accounting and finance world, sharing knowledge with others \n * Leads special projects as needed\n\n\n\n \n\nWhy work at Symetra\n\n\"Symetra will spoil you.
