The successful candidate will partner with PayPal\u0027s global sales teams to negotiate the most strategic and complex transactions with PayPal\u0027s merchants, marketplaces, and partners spanning all of PayPal\u0027s product and service offerings globally.\n\nJob Description:\n\nEssential Responsibilities: \n\n * Provide clear, pragmatic, and solution-oriented legal advice to enable business strategy while managing legal risk.\n * Participate in complex problem resolution, providing expert legal advice on high-stakes issues and disputes.\n * Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.\n * Partner with business counterparts across the enterprise to help drive the delivery of effective legal services.\n * Manage legal risks and safeguard PayPal\u0027s legal interests, developing comprehensive risk management frameworks.\n * Escalate complex issues to senior legal leadership where appropriate.\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * 8+ years relevant experience and a Juris doctorate degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\n\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Ideally this attorney will be well-versed in technology, licensing, and payment/financial services (including payments product solutions), with a critical eye towards risk and regulatory issues.\n\n\u2022 Because the job will involve a large amount of drafting, editing, and writing, exceptional writing skills are an absolute necessity.\n\n\u2022 The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to: effectively and proactively provide sound legal advice; build credibility with business partners; exercise good business judgment; work with senior management; and implement policies and processes on a cross-functional basis in a fast-paced environment.\n\n\u2022 At least 2 years\u0027 experience managing large deal closings that involved tracking the status of interrelated agreements, triggers, and stakeholder requirements\n\n\u2022 Experience directly negotiating complex sales, marketing, or partner agreements with external parties\n\n\u2022 Experience working with multiple client-side stakeholders such as: sales, privacy, product, regional counsel, risk, and regulatory\n\n\u2022 Ability to spot issues and problems, take initiative, find solutions, make recommendations, organize internal coordination, bring about decisions and implement change.\n\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate legal, compliance and business needs\n\n\u2022 Exceptional attention to detail and ability to generate creative original legal documents\n\n\u2022 Ability to be highly engaged and succeed in a collaborative environment\n\n\u2022 Hands-on experience, either as outside or inside counsel, to financial services, fintech or technology companies\n\n\u2022 Outstanding communication skills and ability to work both in teams and independently\n\n\u2022 Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders across the globe\n\n\u2022 Experience in Payments is a plus\n\nSubsidiary:\n\nPayPal\n\nTravel Percent:\n\n0\n\n-\n\nThe base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring.
