Job Description - Sr. Manager, Payments

Lucid Software is the leader in visual collaboration and work acceleration, helping teams see and build the future by turning ideas into reality. Our products, business, and workplace culture have received numerous awards, such as being named to the Forbes Cloud 100 and a Fortune Best Workplace in Technology. Lucid is a hybrid workplace, allowing employees to work remotely, from one of our offices, or a combination of the two depending on the needs of the role and team. At Lucid, we hold true to our core values of teamwork over ego, innovation in everything we do, individual empowerment, initiative, and ownership, and passion and excellence in every area. We value diverse perspectives and are dedicated to creating an environment that is respectful and inclusive for everyone.

As a Senior Manager within Internal Systems, you will own the strategy and business outcomes for Lucid's global billing and payments ecosystem. You are responsible for understanding the end-to-end customer billing experience, identifying opportunities to improve performance and efficiency, and leading the cross-functional execution that drives Lucid's global revenue and scalability. You will develop as a high-performing team member that helps manage key vendor relationships, and ensure our payments operations deliver measurable results across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Planning: Define and execute annual plans for the billing and payments domain. Establish goals aligned with company strategy, manage trade-offs across competing priorities, and clearly communicate direction to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Business Analysis & Insight: Use qualitative and quantitative research to identify friction and opportunity in the global payment experience. Define the business case behind every initiative and ensure you are focused on the highest-impact work.

  • Global Payment Operations: Lead efforts to optimize payment performance across international markets, including localization, alternative payment methods, and ensuring Lucid offers effective payment options for every region we serve.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key contributor in senior cross-functional discussions with Finance, Accounting, Growth, and Sales to ensure the billing stack supports both self-serve and complex B2B transaction needs.

  • Performance Management: Own the health of the payment funnel. Establish benchmarks, monitor key metrics, and translate data analysis into actionable business improvements with a constant focus on revenue impact.

  • Revenue Recovery & Retention: Design and implement strategies for involuntary churn mitigation, including retry logic, dunning optimization, and payment recovery tooling.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, finance, or a related field with a demonstrated track record of leading cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and make data-driven decisions aligned with broader company goals.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex operational data into clear business recommendations.

  • Working knowledge of billing and payment systems (e.g., Recurly, Stripe, Adyen) and global Order-to-Cash processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across both technical and business stakeholders — including Engineering, Finance, and Sales.

  • Experience setting and tracking KPIs that connect operational improvements to business outcomes.

  • Solid understanding of global payment regulations, including PCI-DSS and SCA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in subscription-based SaaS business models.

  • Familiarity with international payment methods (e.g., SEPA, Pix, digital wallets).

  • Proficiency with SQL or data visualization tools.

  • Background in financial reconciliation between payment gateways and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).

  • Experience building or growing an area and team.
