Role Overview
The Production & Product Development Manager will be responsible for managing the critical path for production to ensure it meets customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work with VP of Production on sourcing strategy, production plan and target costing for our Florence by Mills brand.
- Ensure production is placed with factories in a timely manner and in accordance with Time and Action calendar.
- Manage Time & Action calendars. Ensure timely delivery of all components (fabric, trim, etc) in accordance with T&A.
- Knowledge of cost components and ability to drive margin.
- Work with QA as well as factories QC to resolve an issue.
- Communicate with mills and factories on seasonal projections and negotiate required key delivery dates and generic TNA early in the season to ensure the proper planning and staging of the programs.
- Responsible for the follow – through of the approval process from completed BOM handoff from design, color, and components approvals, fit approvals, pre – production, and TOPs. Manage PP, SMS, TOP.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address and resolve issues with product approvals.
- Responsible for the fabric development and creation management according to deadlines with support team.
- Coordinate sample invoices and work with the finance department to ensure factory sample payments.
- Oversee the Production process from development to order placement through delivery.
- Responsible for cost negotiation at program level and for driving best costs to ensure the department meets or exceeds seasonal margin goals.
- Responsible for program placement with overseas mills, factories, and offices in a timely manner, with proper program specific TNAs to meet contracted deliveries and monitor FTY capacity.
- Partners with Merchandising and Design to ensure all development calendars with multiple seasons overlapping are maintained and all deadlines are met.
- Responsible for sending out all development sample requests and managing T&A on samples.
- Solid fabric knowledge and garment construction and finishes
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in apparel industry specifically in production and/or product development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing, testing and quality control
- Exceptionally strong problem solving and negotiating skills with factories and materials supplies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
- Detail oriented with strong follow-up skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects
- Must be proficient in Word and Outlook
- Advance proficiency in Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.)
This a hybrid role, with 4 days in our NJ office
PAY RATE: $100,000/yr-$130,000/yr
