Job Description - Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

From locomotives, transit, freight cars and engines, to tracks, signals and advanced technology, we ensure customers can count on us to meet their needs.Learn how we keep our customers rolling by following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn, and by visiting progressrail.com.Key Job Elements• Develop & Improve Machining and or Assembly manufacturing processes;• Create job aids and work instructions;• Manage complex projects;• Complete Part & Process SPAP / PPAP;• Create and maintain Routings / BOMS;• Process Engineering Changes;• Create/Maintain SFMEA;• Create/Maintain Control Plans / PFMEA;• Use Industrial Engineering Tools – Time Studies/Line Balancing / Man Machine Charts/Value Stream Maps to eliminate waste;• LN system use & training to users;• Validate/support all quality gate audits;• Lead safety investigations and perform 1Page DMAIC process;• Determine processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements;• Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value added activities;• Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Internal Certification, etc;• Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean production environment;• Evaluate, assess, and identify training needs of the workforce;• Drives Root Cause identification. Drives Continuous Improvement process;• CNC/PLC Programming Awareness (Machining Only);• Team Center Mfg / NX Awareness & Use.Education / Training• 2 year technical degree or equivalent manufacturing experience (4 year degree desired);• Minimum 10 years Large Mfg experience.Qualifications and Experience• Strong knowledge of PC / data entry;• Intermediate level skills of Microsoft Office (Excel / Word / PowerPoint);• Ability to comfortably present to team members and other area Leaders;• Strong interpersonal/communication/prioritization skills is a must;• Strong organizational skills;• Ability to read and understand specification and standards documents;• CNC Programming Experience preferred;• Tool Design Experience preferred.Must also be able to perform the following for the duration of shift:• Heavy manufacturing environment, subjecting employees to noise, vibration, and chemical elements;• Will be working near moving mechanical parts, overhead cranes and lift truck traffic;• Regularly required to stand and use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls & reach with hands and arms;• Continual use of ladders/platforms/stairs to access engine and or machines in various stages of assembly or manufacture;• Occasional lifting objects up to 35 lbs;• Periodically walking short and long distances;• Metatarsal safety shoes are required as well as safety glasses.BenefitsCompetitive Salary401(k) plan with up to 6% company match (no waiting period with immediate vesting)Medical/Dental/Vision/Life/Disability InsuranceSupplemental Accident, Critical Care, and Hospital Insurance available along with an HDHP and HSA with seed moneyFlexible Spending AccountsPaid VacationPaid HolidaysPaid Time-Off (PTO)Employee Assistance PlanEducation Assistance ProgramEmployee Recognition ProgramsSite specific Production and Incentive PlansSite specific Step and Skill Level Wage Adjustment PlansSite Specific Relocation and Sign-on Bonus Programs*Benefits eligibility varies by job position, full-time/part-time and regular/temporary status.
