About the Role

HireNow Staffing is working with a respected Texas-based engineering firm seeking a Senior Mechanical or Electrical PE with proven experience in commercial building design think hospitals, universities, stadiums, and mid/high-rise buildings. This is a high-impact, leadership-level opportunity for a hands-on engineer who thrives in fast-paced project environments and wants to mentor junior staff while staying deeply involved in design execution.

This is not an oil & gas or industrial role. We are looking for engineering professionals with strong portfolios in healthcare, education, civic, and large-scale commercial construction projects.

What You'll Do

As a Senior PE, you will lead mechanical or electrical design projects from concept to construction documents, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with clients to deliver innovative, code-compliant systems.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee and guide the mechanical or electrical design process across multiple active commercial projects

  • Develop and review design documents to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with internal standards

  • Lead coordination efforts with internal engineering disciplines and external consultants (architects, structural, etc.)

  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to relationship-building efforts to foster repeat business

  • Evaluate and manage mechanical/electrical design budgets and recommend adjustments as needed

  • Provide mentorship to junior staff and collaborate on manpower planning with project managers

  • Conduct peer reviews and participate in in-house QA/QC processes ahead of key deliverables

  • Stay current through a minimum of 10 hours of annual continuing education, which may include in-house technical training or approved external courses

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas (or eligible to transfer)

  • 7+ years of progressive experience designing commercial MEP systems (K-12, higher ed, hospitals, municipal, or stadiums preferred)

  • Strong ability to produce and review mechanical or electrical design drawings and documentation

  • Skilled communicator with the ability to interface directly with clients and project stakeholders

  • Proficient in collaborating across engineering disciplines, architectural partners, and contractors

  • Comfortable working full-time in-office as part of a collaborative project team

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with Texas building codes and permitting processes

  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD MEP workflows

  • Prior involvement in large-scale commercial projects ($50M+ budgets)

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Competitive base salary + potential for performance-based bonuses

  • 401(k) with 100% match up to 3.5% of your contribution

  • Three weeks of PTO starting in Year 1, plus 8 paid holidays

  • Half-day Fridays for better work-life balance

  • Professional development supported through structured continuing education

Apply through HireNow Staffing today to be considered for this high-visibility opportunity with a firm known for engineering excellence, long-term stability, and an exceptional culture of mentorship and growth.
