Education and Qualifications

• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Clinic/medical office experience preferred


• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School graduate or GED preferred.


• LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification: Required


• LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Current CPR Certification.


• LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), American Medical Technologist (RMA), California Certifying Board of Medical Assistant (CCMA), Multiskilled Medical Certification Institute (National Certifying Board of Medical Assistants or NCMA) partnered with Nation center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or equivalent combination of licensure and experience: Required


• LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Phlebotomy certification preferred.


• QUALIFICATIONS: Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (a): This job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching above shoulders, sitting, walking inclines and declines, standing, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive hand motions. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally lift boxes and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. The employee must demonstrate lifting a 25-pound box from the floor.


• POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOOD & BODY FLUIDS: Category 3 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Does not require the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, and the assisting in cases of emergency medical care or first aid is not a requirement of employment. Tasks that involve handling of implements or utensils, use of the public or shared bathroom facilities, telephones, and personal contacts such as handshaking, are all considered Category 3 tasks.)

Job Roles

Sr. Medical Assistant Trainer (Outpatient) (AHCL)

• Ability to travel to any St. Helena Family Health Center based on need.


• AGES SERVED (a): Infant, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care service appropriate to the age of the patients/individuals served. Demonstrates and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patientsindividuals status and interpret relative to his age-specific needs, and to provide the care/service needed.


• Assist PI coordinator to administer and sign off all clinic competencies for each employee.


• Assist PI coordinator to complete and maintain safety and compliance drills.


• Assists practitioner and RN with basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist or his designee.


• Coordinates new employee to shadow each department for 30 minutes.


• Cross-trains for front office functions and fills in as needed.


• Knowledge and ability to teach ALL Point of Care Testing.


• Knowledge of all departments including but not limited to check in, MA role, LVN role, Provider role, check out, specialty and referrals.


• Knowledge of employee and provider on board process.


• Knowledge of Millennium laboratory drug screen process.


• Knowledge of shadowing in all departments.


• Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.


• Maintains confidentiality of staff, patient and administrative information in the Clinic, hospital and community setting.


• Maintains lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner.


• Must obtain National Medical Assistant Certificate within 6 months of accepting position and must maintain certificate and complete all required CEUs.


• Needs to have worked ability to work any all departments.


• Observes all clinic protocols and procedures as written.


• Orient all new employees to all departments in the facility.


• Performs waived lab tests and lab internal QCs. Prepares samples for shipment to hospital lab.


• Prepares patient for provider exam and collects all baseline information and records in the patient chart.


• Takes patient vital signs, height and weight measurements. Records results in patient chart.


• Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
