DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for producing materials in the printing and copying processes throughout the plant. Responsible for meeting production deadlines and output schedules as assigned by supervisors.. Responsible for arranging assigned work in most efficient and cost-effective manner to accomplish work. Produce digital printed media for the organization through use of printing equipment and high volume duplicating equipment. Operates auxiliary equipment that is complimentary to the digital press and necessary to meet the client needs. Ensure quality control. Perform maintenance and/or minor repair of equipment. Performs general tasks and routine assignments. Works under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgement.

DUTIES %: DUTIES DESCRIPTION

70 %      Oversees, readies, and operates high speed digital printing equipment; performs cleaning and maintenance on high speed digital printing equipment; Operates auxiliary equipment that is complimentary to the digital press and necessary to meet the client needs; manipulates data; utilizes scanner and programs high-speed digital printing equipment. performs on-line editing of publications using graphics software including placement of line art, halftones and pagination of documents; responsible for preparing and placement of files for single and 4-color process printing; performs electronic assembly, typesetting, imaging and scanning; Performs platemaking tasks including: making plates, including process and general black and white; making dylux proofs; making color proofs; mixing chemicals used in above processes and maintaining related equipment. Performs maintenance daily or as needed for various pieces of equipment; cleaning and mixing of chemicals needed for equipment.

Monitors inventory levels and alerts supervisor of ordering needs. Inputs information in computer system to track materials and labor.

25%       Ensures quality control measures and pulls samples for quality testing. Works closely with customer service to develop print material for advertising, manuals, training materials, or other publications.

5%         Performs other plant related duties as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:

High School Graduate or equivalent education/experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Three to five years of experience working offset printing and digital copying. knowledge of all facets of printing and copying (pre-press, pressroom, bindery and mailing); strong computer literacy skills including locating, moving, imposing and troubleshooting files; experience in color management.

Requires thorough knowledge of bindery equipment, materials and methods of operation; experience and knowledge of paper and differences in stock; strong problem solving skills; ability to meet production schedules and ability to multi-task; ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
