Job Description - Sr. Principal Data Scientist - (Melbourne FL)

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Data Scientist that will understand and shape work management and data collection across the program, including, but not limited to systems engineering, software development, manufacturing, requirements verification, and system test data analysis to support the Office of the Chief Engineer within the Strike Division. The position is located on-site in Melbourne, FL.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Understand and shape work management and data collection across the program, including, but not limited to systems engineering, software development, manufacturing, requirements verification, and system test data analysis

• Promote digital transformation by integrating functions and teams into a cohesive digital ecosystem and thread

• Provide guidance and direction to metrics and tooling teams in accordance with digital thread vision

• Manage priorities of program metrics and tool-development based on value-based ROI

• Coordinate with functional teams to implement solutions

• Analyze multiple data sources in detail to identify trends and patterns using engineering fundamentals

• Develop data engineering skills by creating/improving Extract, Transfer, and Load (ETL) data frameworks using various methods including Python scripting and SQL

• Generate visualizations for teams and senior leadership, including program directors, VPs, and, on occasion, corporate executives

• Investigate uses of AI and ML for program application and opportunity creation

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 9 years related professional/military experience OR Master's in STEM with 7 years related professional/military experience OR PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of related professional/military experience

• Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

• Active T1 or T2 PAR Access

• Experience with gathering, modeling and normalizing complex data from multiple sources / systems of record

• Experience with ETL tools, data analytics platforms, and reporting services.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in Python

• Proficient in SQL

• Proficient with Data Visualization tools, including Tableau

• Strong systems thinking and systems engineering skills necessary to design efficient processes and work/information management in a manner that aligns individual/team incentives with program needs

• Excellent communication skills and customer facing experience.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and analytic skills

Salary Range: $126,400 - $189,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
