Job Description - Sr Principal Engineer Systems (26-021 and 26-022)
Lead the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs, gathered through documentation and solicitation, into easily reviewable technical approaches Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts such as use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to convey understanding of the required behaviors and the system's performance under development Lead the development of physical and logical system models that capture the system under development, using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools Lead system interface development, as documented in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), by converting system and interface requirements into message-level details sufficient to coordinate interface development Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews Create, review, and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documentation, and engineering estimates Interface with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working-level counterparts, as needed Participate in Agile development planning and execution, including iteration planning and status reporting Work will be carried out as part of an Agile Scrum team, guided by a Team Lead who reports to the C2BMC Regional Systems Engineering Manager Work will be performed in a closed area with no remote work options Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable. A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start Willingness to travel up to 10% for business needs Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF) Candidates for this role should ideally possess some or all of the following preferred qualifications: Systems Engineer with 9+ years of experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems engineers, developing solutions across all aspects of the Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle Demonstrated experience in all responsibilities of this role Experience regularly interacting with the customer, specifically in eliciting customer needs and requirements Experience working with one or more components of the Missile Defense System Experience with one or more elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions Experience with complex Command and Control Systems, especially those with extensive networking capabilities Experience performing many of the responsibilities of this position, with a particular focus on concept development and requirements decomposition Experience with using MBSE approaches and tools (e.g., Cameo) Experience working on tasks where failure to achieve good results typically results in program delays and wasted expenditure of resources Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (written and verbal) with others, present technical content, and receive critical feedback Ability to support short-notice and/or urgent tasks without a loss of efficiency
