The Role

Key Responsibilities:

Senior Software Engineers for various and unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. (HQ: Chicago, IL). Responsible for leading the design, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based database infrastructure. Deploy and configure cloud database services, including managed database services from providers like AWS and Azure. Manage database instances, clusters, and replicas to ensure high availability and scalability. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that occur in the application software. Address technical escalations related to applications and resolve them. Optimize application performance and support various data-driven initiatives. Participate in Application / Platform releases and maintenance for production and pre-production environments. Develop and maintain automation scripts for database provisioning, scaling, and maintenance tasks. Review and approve planned deployments with the product development teams. Participate in disaster recovery tests by performing documented recovery procedures for the applications. Establish analytics application support standards and publish operational run book documentation for production. Ensure applications meet SLAs and comply with SOC audit requirements. Recommend appropriate technology options for development. Make recommendations for operational efficiency improvements and new operational enhancements. Use infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to provision and manage cloud resources. Technical Environment: ETL; RDBMS platforms - Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL; Big Data Platforms - EMR, Kafka, Redshift; Reporting tools (MicroStrategy and Tableau); Python scripting; SQL; infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation); monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana); cloud PaaS; Linux/Unix, Bash Shell scripting; AWS and related open source / cloud technologies; XML and JSON formats.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or related field plus 3 years of experience with software development/database administration required. Required Skills: ETL; RDBMS platforms - Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL; Big Data Platforms - EMR, Kafka, Redshift; Reporting tools (MicroStrategy and Tableau); Python scripting; SQL; infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation); monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana); cloud PaaS; Linux/Unix, Bash Shell scripting; AWS and related open source / cloud technologies; XML and JSON formats. Telecommuting Permitted.
