Role Overview

Altana is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support its accounting operations at our Billings West End (32nd and Central) branch.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with the accounting team to ensure financial transactions are accurate, compliant with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and meet regulatory standards.  This role is a great fit if you enjoy structured financial work, thrive in a collaborative environment, and want to grow within a reputable organization.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be involved in a mix of daily operations and reporting tasks:

• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Help process incoming and outgoing payments.  This will be the primary function of the position.


• Daily Funding Activities: Support approval and payment workflows.


• General Ledger Entries: Post transactions and maintain reconciliations.


• Data Validation: Ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies.


• Regulatory Reporting & Audits: Assist in preparing financial reports and audit materials.


• Bank Reconciliations (as assist/backup role):  Investigate discrepancies, validate settlement of payments (including checks, ACH transfers, and card transactions), and confirm that all cash movements are properly recorded and accounted for.


• Excel Reporting: Build and maintain financial reports using Microsoft Excel.

• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.


• Clear and professional communication skills.

Education & Experience

• Required: Proficiency in Excel.


• Preferred:




• 2+ years in accounting functions (AP, payroll, general ledger).


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.


• Experience in the financial services industry.
