Job Description - Staff Accountant

📍 Folsom, CA | Full-Time | Onsite

Position Overview
R.E.Y. Engineers is seeking a Staff Accountant to support and grow within our Accounting Department. This role begins with core AP and expense responsibilities and expands into project accounting, compliance, and reporting functions as the individual progresses.
The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, FAR compliance, and reliable project accounting support across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations

Oversee full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, posting, and payments.
Manage employee expense reimbursements and corporate card reconciliations.
Resolve vendor and subcontractor discrepancies independently.
Secure and maintain vendor W-9 forms as required by statute.

Perform project setup and maintenance within the accounting system.
Ensure accurate posting of project costs and revenues.
Support project managers with accounting-related inquiries.
Maintain accurate and compliant project financial records.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure accounting activities comply with FAR Cost Principles and company policies.
Support audits, tax filings, and internal financial reporting.
Prepare and process annual 1099 filings.
Maintain subcontractor and vendor compliance documentation.

Department & Cross-Functional Support

Assist with union payroll and timecard review processes.
Participate in ad hoc accounting analyses and process improvements.
Collaborate with Accounting, Business Development, and Project Teams.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, OR equivalent experience
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong familiarity with FAR Cost Principles and Procedures.
AEC industry and project accounting experience strongly preferred.

Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Excel skills preferred.
Experience with Deltek Ajera highly desirable.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
