Staff Accountant

Location: Bainbridge Island, WA / Hybrid

Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 DOE

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and assisting in month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of accounting principles and a strong desire to grow within the profession.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
• Assist with reconciling bank accounts and balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain and update accounting records and files.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Support accounts payable and receivable functions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Help with audits and tax preparation by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned.
• Provide administrative support, including mail handling, document scanning, and file maintenance
• Help ensure accounting and office records are organized, accurate, and easily accessible

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience (internships or relevant work experience accepted).
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
