Staff Accountant

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant I is responsible for performing routine accounting activities under close supervision. This entry-level position assists with maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant I supports the month-end close process and provides accurate documentation for financial reporting. This role is designed for individuals beginning their accounting careers and serves as a foundation for advancement within the Finance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist administration of the employee stock ownership plan.
• Assist with analysis of monthly financial statements.
• Assist with completion of year-end audit and tax returns.
• Support accounts payable and receivable as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP/accounting software preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with supervision.
• Strong communication and willingness to learn.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 0–2 years of accounting experience; internships or co-op programs preferred.
