Staff Accountant

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Financial Management: Assist the controller in oversight of all accounts, ledgers, and class list reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
  


• Internal Controls: Execute internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program
  budgets.


• Grant Budgeting: Support the development of budgets for grant applications in coordination with the CRO.


• Grant Compliance: Assist in ensuring all grant-related transactions align with specific fiscal reporting requirements designated by grantors.
  


• Coding Management: Process class and General Ledger (GL) code changes as instructed by the CRO.


• Reporting Assistance: Prepare and submit financial data to the controller for monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual reports to leadership.


• Budgeting & Analysis: Contribute to the creation of the annual organizational budget and perform budget-to-actual variance analysis to support informed decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  


• Sector Experience: Required professional experience specifically within the non-profit sector.


• Compliance: Strong understanding of federal and state grant reporting.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise with payroll.
  


• Industry Experience: Experience within a healthcare or behavioral health environment is highly preferred.


• Certification: CPA or CMA certification.


• Technical: Advanced Excel capabilities.

• Communication: Ability to clearly relay financial insights to the CFO and program managers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role is primarily performed in an office building with standard office environment and controlled temperatures.  When working outdoors or at a job site the employee may be exposed to construction equipment or other moving objects/equipment; reference job site specifics.  The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk/hear, see, read, and personally interact with others.
