Staff Accountant

Commercial Asphalt Supply is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position offers exposure to all aspects of accounting and finance within a growing, family-owned company. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys solving problems, and is looking for an opportunity to build a long-term career in private industry.

Responsibilities

The focus of this role is on being a well-rounded accounting professional who supports a variety of accounting and financial functions, including:

• Maintain and analyze inventory and production costing.


• Verify, record, and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.


• Prepare and post accurate general ledger journal entries.


• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.


• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.


• Assist with payroll processing and related reporting.


• Analyze financial data and prepare ad hoc reports for management.


• Collaborate with operations, plant personnel, and management to improve accounting processes and internal controls.


• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and other advanced functions; Power Query or VBA experience is a plus).


• Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.


• Experience with Foundation Software, HeavyBid, or similar ERP/accounting software is a plus.
