Job Title: Staff Accountant


Reports to: Director of Finance


Supervisory Responsibilities: None


Status: Full-Time (40 hours), Non-Exempt


Qualifications: Associates degree in Accounting or two to five years of related experience. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with excellent follow-through.


Physical Requirements: This position primarily works in a typical office setting but may involve exposure to extreme temperatures in a warehouse environment. The role may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and/or bending; listening, speaking, and visual concentration; and writing and/or computer use. The position typically provides routine opportunities to change physical position or shift eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 30 pounds.


Position Summary: Assists in all areas of the Finance Department, with a primary focus on grants, credit cards, account reconciliations, and month-end close.


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Grant Financial Tracking:

    • Process payment requests, invoices, and drawdowns to verify that costs are reasonable and allocable

    • Tracking of award spending, manage salary allocations, and prevent unallowable cost transfers

    • Enforce adherence to local, state, federal, or foundation legal regulations

    • Communicate with Finance Management regarding any inquires or non-allocable spending

    • Reconcile and track custodial accounts

      • Report any unused or expiring funds to management



    • Handle all weekly credit card transactions and reconciliation

    • Assist with monthly account reconciliations, month-end close and year-end audit

    • Save transaction reports for Lockbox

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Maintain privileged and confidential information in strict confidence.
