About the Program and Position:
Our finance department supports all of our service programs, support departments, leadership and Board of Trustees by maintaining accounting records and analyzing the financial health of the organization. This makes a difference because our financial sustainability is critical for us to serve our communities and the role that you play in all of this is maintaining accurate financial records of our income and expenses and developing reports that provide key information to our leadership to analyze and make financial decisions.
How you get to use your skills…
Maintain and administer the monthly general ledger
Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly close processes
Assist in the preparation of financial statements
Analyze and prepare reconciliations for various general ledger account balances
Assists the supervisor in preparing for Board Meetings, audits, budgets, CFR, and period-end reports
Assist with special projects as assigned by management
Schedule: Exempt
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
1 to 3 years of experience performing accounting-related functions such as general ledger maintenance and complete month-end close strongly preferred
Understanding of accounting concepts such as prepaid, accruals and deferrals
Understanding of nonprofit allocation methods and administrative allocations
Experience with nonprofit accounting and government reporting forms is strongly preferred
Valid NYS Driver's License required
Ability to travel to all agency locations as required
Physical Requirements:
Word processing: Including responding to emails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for a minimum of 5 hours and could be up to 7 hours a day depending on workload
Lifting of Agency file books - weighing approximately 6-8 lbs. each - 5 inch binders
Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
Answering phones, processing mail, filing and lifting packages
120 hours of Vacation Time, 12 sick days per year
