We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. \n\n## The impact you\u2019ll make\n\nWe are seeking a highly specialized AI \u0026 CAD Engineering Applications Expert to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI\u2011driven automation and intelligence within CAD and engineering workflows. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical/electrical engineering, CAD system customization, and applied AI/ML, and will play a critical role in transforming traditional rule\u2011based CAD automation into data\u2011driven, intelligent engineering systems.\n\nThe ideal candidate brings deep hands\u2011on expertise in AI language models, Agentic AI applications, and AI project implementation. The candidate will also possess hands on experience and deep understanding of MCAD systems (NX / Creo) and functions with deep knowledge on generative AI capabilities, strong CAD automation and customization skills, and practical experience applying AI/ML in CAD automation and features, generative AI, or optimization techniques to engineering problems such as design validation, configuration, routing, change management, and knowledge reuse. The candidate may also work on AI CAD adjacent technologies and capabilities such as Digital Twin and Virtual Twin CAD visualization with AI derived data analytics.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do\n\nAI\u2011Driven CAD \u0026 Engineering Solutions\n\n * Architect and develop AI\u2011enabled CAD automation solutions across the engineering lifecycle, 3D geometry creation and analysis(Including algorithms), concept design, detailed modeling, validation, detailing, and change management. \n * Apply machine learning, generative AI, and optimization techniques to enhance CAD automation beyond traditional rule\u2011based scripting.\n * Lead AI\u2011based initiatives.\n\n\n\nCAD Automation \u0026 Customization\n\n * Develop and maintain custom CAD applications and tools using NX Open / Creo APIs/Toolkit (Visual Basic, C#, C++, Python). \n * Build robust CAD automation solutions covering modeling, assemblies, drawings, sheet metal, routing, and validation workflows. \n * Integrate CAD with PDM/PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) and other enterprise systems using APIs, web services, and data pipelines. Applied AI \u0026 Data Engineering\n * Design pipelines to extract, structure, and learn from CAD, BOM, drawing, and engineering standards data. \n * Collaborate with data and platform teams to operationalize AI models within production CAD environments.\n * Evaluate model performance, reliability, and scalability for engineering use cases.\n\n\n\nTechnical Leadership \u0026 Collaboration\n\n * Act as AI/CAD Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting engineering teams, CAD automation groups, and program managers. \n * Partner with Product Groups, IT, and Key Lam AI Teams to identify high\u2011ROI AI opportunities in engineering workflows. \n * Mentor engineers and developers on AI\u2011enabled CAD automation best practices.\n * Develop Engineering CAD AI strategies, roadmaps and vision.\n\n\n\n## Who we\u2019re looking for\n\n### Education \u0026 Experience\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.\n * 8+ years of hands\u2011on experience with CAD systems and engineering applications, with 4+ years in CAD automation/customization.\n * Deep and demonstrated experience applying AI/ML, optimization, or generative techniques to engineering or CAD\u2011adjacent problems.\n\n\n\n### Technical Skills\n\n * Strong expertise in NX and/or Creo (modeling, assemblies, drawings).\n * Proficiency with NX Open / Creo APIs, C#, C++, and/or Python.\n * Solid foundation in geometry, numerical methods, and engineering physics.\n * Experience with AI/ML concepts, including supervised learning, rule extraction, optimization, or generative models.\n * Familiarity with SQL, REST APIs, data formats (XML/JSON), and system integration.\n\n\n\n## Preferred qualifications\n\n * Experience deploying AI in production CAD environments (not just POCs).\n * Knowledge of PLM, engineering change management, and configuration workflows.\n * Experienced with Teamcenter automation using SOA and ITK.\n * Exposure to cloud platforms, GitHub, Scrum, DevOps, and MLOps concepts.\n * Experience working in semiconductor or complex industrial engineering environments.\n\n\n\n## Impact \u0026 Success Metrics\n\n * Reduction in engineering cycle time through AI\u2011enabled CAD automation.\n * Increased automation coverage and model quality.\n * Adoption of AI\u2011based tools across product groups.\n * Measurable improvements in design consistency, product quality, product development leadtime, and design compliance.\n\n\n\n## Our commitment\n\nWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories \u2013 On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. \u2018On-site Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. \u2018Virtual Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.\n\n#LI-SG1 \n\nSalary\n\nSalary Range for this position: $104,000.00 - $231,000.00.\n\nThe above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside in California and most states. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
