Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for a Lead Staff Electro-Optical Subsystem Engineer 5 to support the Glide Phase Interceptor Program as the Seeker IPT Lead within the Launch Vehicles business unit in Chandler, Arizona.\n\nAs the lead of the Seeker IPT you will utilize your expertise to coordinate multi-disciplinary team efforts to ensure integration and performance at the seeker level and higher systems. The Seeker IPT team is responsible for the development of the design, integration and testing of development and flight hardware, supporting the development of the seeker test suite, ensuring representative physics-based models for the 6 DoF, development of seeker algorithms, and evaluation of seeker performance. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with significantly diverse assignments and collaborative/team settings across all levels.\n\nJob Duties:\n\n * Responsible for schedule and cost of the IPT and ensuring accurate reporting for the purposes of earned value\n * Coordinate the efforts between multi-disciplinary teams to ensure an integrated seeker system solution.\n * Decompose requirements from performance basis, identify appropriate verification methodology, and evaluate performance of concept and detailed design.\n * Interfacing with the customer to provide technical status updates on activities such as design efforts, integration status, maturation plans and procedures, and testing results\n * Overseeing error budgets pertaining to the seeker solution and the ability to support modeling that is used to inform either requirements or design sources of error\n * Develop seeker hardware, optical system research and development, data analysis, and evaluation of algorithm development as it pertains to the hardware\n * Overseeing vendor development activities and ensure deliverable timeframes are met\n * Develop and maintain a strong technical understanding of seeker systems to aid in identification and troubleshooting of potential issues and ensuring all requirements flowed from the customer\u2019s statement of scope are addressed\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Optical Engineering or Physics from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, or a Master\u2019s degree and 10 years of experience, or a PhD and 8 years of experience.\n * Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope\n * Team leadership experience\n * Understanding of Earned Value reporting\n * Documented experience in Seeker development lifecycle\n * Experience with optical imaging systems ranging from the visible to LWIR spectrum\n * Problem solving not only for technical issues, but also for schedule, cost, resources and other project challenges\n * Experience in root cause and corrective action methodologies\n * Experience working on real-time hypersonic missile interceptor systems\n * Experience in seeker algorithms design\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * MS/PhD in Optical Engineering or Physics preferred\n * Mentoring and cross-training team members across diverse components to ensure customer requirements are met\n * Experience with missile systems and associated standards\n * Previous experience with DOD missile defense programs\n * Experience with relevant seeker con-ops and performance needs\n * Experience with EO systems including optical design, analysis and tolerancing, error budgets, opto-mech, and focal plane technologies\n * Experience with optical design tools: ZEMAX, Code V, FRED, NX, and Solid Works\n * Understanding of Fourier analysis and numerical analysis\n * Experience with MBSE, modeling of optical sensors to manipulate target signatures\n * High proficiency in MATLAB and Python toolchains\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $168,200.00 - $252,200.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
