Perform mechanical design of one or more extremely complex structural components and functional systems of company products. Analyze requirements for materials, structural components, or functional systems. Develop original ideas and elaborate on preliminary design concepts. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior. Evaluate the designs of lower-level engineers and provide guidance. Provide technical direction, with supporting input from relevant subject matter experts Apply theoretical knowledge, engineering techniques, and test data to the solution of more complex components, structures, and sub-assemblies. Solutions are highly innovative and ingenious. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Establish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution Review designs of lower-level engineers, provide guidance of design activities Make recommendations for improving own work and/or group's work Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects. Act as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research and applications. Ensure that the product line is adhering to contractual and technical data package requirements Ensure communications with the internal and external teams are taking place across the entire programmatic portfolio Lead the engineering effort to accomplish major milestones, such as: design reviews, technical interchange meetings, test design reviews and test readiness reviews Support earned value performance tracking of various programs in the portfolio Requires Bachelors in STEM plus at least 12 years of design experience or Master's Degree in STEM plus at least 10 years of design experience or a PhD in STEM plus at least 8 years of design experience. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite Proficiency with Siemens NX Degree in strongly Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Experience with mechanical design of propulsion components or fluid systems Current active Security Clearance
