Staff Full-Stack Engineer (full-time, temporary)

Temporary full-time role, 6+ months at 30-40 hours per week (with benefits); Hybrid: US applicants only, Boston-area preferred but remote possible with monthly travel to Boston)

We’re a seven-person, mission-driven startup building mobile tools that make mindfulness simple, friendly, and scientifically grounded. Our products and internal workflows lean heavily on modern LLMs for rapid prototyping, automated testing, and personalized user journeys. The Opportunity

As our only Full-Stack Engineer, you’ll shape features end-to-end, spanning our Swift iOS app, Kotlin Android app, and Ruby on Rails backend, while coordinating a small group of external contractors. You’ll sit at the intersection of product and engineering, translating user problems into polished, shippable software.

What You’ll Do

• Build across the stack. Design, implement, and maintain mobile and server-side code that powers subscriptions and content delivery.
  
  


• Partner with Product/Marketing. Work with stakeholders, advising on feasibility, sequencing, and scope trade-offs.
  
  


• Lead external devs. Create tickets, review PRs, set coding standards, and ensure outsourced engineers deliver high-quality, on-time work.
  
  


• Own quality & reliability. Uphold test coverage, security, observability, and CI/CD health (Heroku/AWS + CircleCI + Bitrise).
  
  


• Improve tooling & process. Use the latest AI tools to improve and automate repetitive tasks, document decisions, and keep our tech stack current.
  

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years building production web/mobile software (iOS, Android); comfortable moving between client and server.


• Strong experience with Swift/Kotlin and Ruby on Rails. Experience with Svelte a plus.


• A product mindset—you measure success in user outcomes, not lines of code.


• Proven ability to manage contractors, setting clear expectations and code quality bars.
  Proficiency with modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Devin, or similar) to accelerate coding, debugging, and documentation workflow; as well as enthusiasm for rapidly adopting this technology as it evolves.


• Familiarity with relational databases (Postgres / SQLite), REST APIs, automated testing, and cloud deployment.


• Experience with subscription commerce (Stripe, Apple/Play Store) and analytics platforms (Amplitude, Braze).
