Role: Staff Nuclear Pharmacist Intern

Reports To: Pharmacy Manager

Role Summary: The Staff Nuclear Pharmacist Intern will play an essential role in assisting the Pharmacy Manager efforts for the safe, effective and client-focused operation of the Nuclear Pharmacy.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Compounds, prepares and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals per physician prescriptions and Company, State and Federal regulations.

2. Performs Quality Control testing on all dispensed products. Assesses medications to determine identity, purity and strength; performs white blood cell labeling, enters daily elutions, kit preparations, and inventory audits.

3. Complies with all Company, State and Federal requirements for the handling and shipping of radioactive material. Keeps laboratory clean as per regulatory specifications.

4. Assists the Pharmacy Manager with overseeing pharmacy staff, technicians, lab workers and drivers. Has the capability to oversee running of the facility, known as Pharmacist in Charge, as needed.

5. Assists with the monitoring and control of operational expenses, inventory and purchasing of supplies within the pharmacy.

6. Provides clinical support for customers with radiopharmaceutical questions. Informs management of complaints or requests in a timely manner.

7. Provides training and instruction to pharmacy technicians, lab assistants and nuclear medicine technology students.

8. Follows Standard Operating Procedures while safely carrying out the responsibilities of position. Complies with all company safety standards, and all federal, state and local laws.

9. Performs other job-related duties as required by the Pharmacy Manager.

10. Required to travel up to 25%.

Job Requirements │ Skills │ Education:

• Must be a Registered Pharmacist with 1+ years nuclear pharmacist experience.

• Must have active pharmacy license in State of New York.

• NRC or state Authorized User Status designation in the State of use.

• Ability to work a variety of schedules including evenings, holidays and weekends.

• Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.

Physical and Intellectual

Requirements: Manual dexterity for manipulating small items; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and to handle standing, walking and sitting for 4+ hours with limited rest intervals; good eye-hand coordination; fair eyesight (with or without correction lenses); normal hearing in at least one ear (hearing range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz); ability to analyze situations, administer medication, set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; effective organizational skills; a commitment to continuous learning; an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work night shift, alternate between shifts, work extended shifts (doubles) and be on-call on weekends, holidays and outside normal hours.
