JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring smooth day to day operations at our Pharmacy, Managing prescriptions, controlling the inventory, executing supply and shipment of orders, and maintaining pharmacy compliance with best practices.

· Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve the health center's mission.
· Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, policy-making bodies, third-party payers, patients and the public.
· Skill in organizing work, delegating and achieving goals and objectives.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy towards patients, as well as strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, the ability to handle stressful situations, the capacity to function independently and the ability to document meticulously.
· Must have excellent process improvement skills and ability to understand clinic functions and department interactions.
· Intermediate ability with Microsoft office with emphasis on Excel and Word.

· Ability to identify trends and motivate workforce toward changes needed to adapt and remain competitive
· Ability to create and interpret reports from the practice management system.
· Ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement and change.
· Ability to manage and supervise various positions and relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as well as have a passion for working with at-risk, culturally diverse populations.
· Ability to read, understand and interpret financial statements, spreadsheets and legal documents.
· Ability to develop and nurture vendor relationships for purchasing optimization.
· Ability to motivate diverse groups of employees to accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization
· Ability to hold staff accountable for organizational goals
· Ability to adapt process improvement in accordance with organization objectives.
· Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet the organization’s needs/demands.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Fast paced work environment.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Requirements
Knowledge:
· Thorough understanding of how the business side of retail pharmacies operate with regards to insurance billing and reimbursement
· Sufficient knowledge of 340B and how it is used to support an FQHC is preferred (will provide on-the-job training for this).
· In-depth knowledge of the pharmacological uses and side effects of prescription drugs and controlled substances.
· Advanced knowledge of protocols regulating the safe storage of prescription drugs and controlled substances.
· Specific knowledge of finance, marketing, and operations standards in health care.
· General knowledge of all aspects of the revenue cycle as it pertains to pharmacies.
· Knowledge of regulatory compliance i.e., Apexus, OPAIS, HRSA is preferred
· Basic understanding of information technology and ability to organize, analyze and synthesize complex data from various sources.
· Attends seminars, training sessions and in-services, to keep current with trends and practices in health care administration, national and regional community health centers policies, trends and best practices surrounding 340B.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Seeing: Must be able to read written and printed material, as well as use computer (excel, word, and outlook), and other office equipment.
· Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers and others. Good hearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.
· Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time and be capable of walking on hardwood and linoleum floors with concrete underpayments. Must be able to walk between various clinical areas and departments.
· Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: This position requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for easy and skillful use of hands when working with and performing normal office duties and responsibilities.
· Driving to pharmacy site and potentially to other pharmacies in the region on rare occasion for training or to cover an emergency.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
· Graduated from an accredited college of pharmacy
· Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of NC
· At least 2 years experience in retail pharmacy staffing role is preferred
· Experience in 340B is preferred.
