In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling PayPal\u0027s Android applications that are used by millions of customers worldwide. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, performant, and reliable mobile experiences.\n\nJob Description:\n\nEssential Responsibilities: \n\n * Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system\n * Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow\n * Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives\n * Proactively improves existing structures \u0026 processes\n * Exercises judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities (time, quality, complexity risk) to identify optimal solutions to problems\n * Notices patterns and condenses repetition into densely meaningful generalized solutions\n * Collaborates with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor\n * Trusted to represent PayPal, Inc to the outside world via interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor\u2019s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\n\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\nResponsibilities\n\n * Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications for PayPal\u0027s consumer and merchant products.\n\n * Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Kotlin/Java code following engineering best practices.\n\n * Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.\n\n * Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.\n\n * Diagnose and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and crashes in production applications.\n\n * Contribute to architectural decisions, technical design discussions, and documentation.\n\n * Champion mobile engineering standards, testing practices, and CI/CD pipelines.\n\n * Stay current with Android platform updates, tools, and emerging best practices.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s or Master\u0027s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).\n\n * 5+ years of professional Android development experience.\n\n * Strong proficiency in Kotlin and familiarity with Java.\n\n * Hands-on experience with Android SDK, Jetpack libraries (ViewModel, LiveData, Room, Navigation, Compose).\n\n * Solid understanding of MVVM / MVI architectural patterns.\n\n * Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and mobile networking (OkHttp, Retrofit).\n\n * Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks (Hilt / Dagger).\n\n * Proficient in writing unit and instrumentation tests (JUnit, Espresso, Mockito).\n\n * Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and agile development methodologies.\n\n * Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Experience in fintech, payments, or security-sensitive mobile applications.\n\n * Knowledge of Android performance profiling and optimization techniques.\n\n * Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and feature flagging.\n\n * Experience working in large-scale, multi-module Android codebases.\n\n * Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) for mobile applications.\n\n * Exposure to Jetpack Compose for modern declarative UI development.\n\n\n\n\nSubsidiary:\n\nPayPal\n\nTravel Percent:\n\n0\n\n-\n\nThe base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring.
