The Role

The Staffing Nurse Manager oversees operations and coordinates all activities related to the nursing function to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care. The successful ASC Staffing Nurse Manager possesses a combination of clinical expertise, exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop and nurture a strong team. Regular responsibilities include recruiting, training, and managing the nursing staff, while also collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize workflow and maintain regulatory compliance. A more comprehensive outline of responsibilities is listed below.

Planning

  • Identifies and participates in short- and long-term goal development.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians and other health care team members to influence sound decision making in selection of equipment and supplies.
  • Develops and assumes responsibility for implementing, evaluating, and revising nursing standards.

Leadership

Management

  • Organizes the department workload and establishes work standards to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilizes the entire work force in the department and delegates responsibilities successfully.
  • Manages workload by adjusting priorities with a minimal amount of disruption.
  •  Provides feedback on work performance to staff on a continual basis.
  • Reviews staffing to determine nursing personnel requirements.
  • Attends Quality Management, Medical Advisory, and staff meetings.
  • Assures that all State and Federal requirements are adhered to.
  • Verifies license and staff privileges for surgeons. 
  • Assures that all equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
  • Ensures that surgical schedules are efficiently managed to maximize resource utilization and minimize patient wait times.
  • Assists with maintaining employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations, and paid time off, cover for absenteeism and overtime scheduling.
  • Collaborates with leaders to determine provider scheduling; assists with filling in open surgical scheduling block time.

Fiscal Management

  • Assures overall responsibility for charges generated in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • Monitors the participation levels of the supply area and drug inventory.
  • Obtains comparisons on purchases to ensure effective budgeting.
  • Encourages reuse of items designated for multiple use.
  • Reviews all patient charges prior to sending to the billing department.
  • Reviews all billing statements, matches with purchase orders received, and sends to the billing department for payment.
  • Reviews time sheets; monitors vacation, sick, and education time, in conjunction with personnel manager.

Clinical

  • Provides and facilitates competent care of the patient in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • Ensures policies and procedures of the department are followed.
  • Reviews and updates policies as appropriate.
  • Assures that documentation of care is complete and accurate.
  • Communicates information to all health care team members regarding patient care and outcome. 
  • Assists in development plans for continuous improvement of patient care.
  • Works with physicians to evaluate and enhance patient experience. 

Requirements

Who You Are

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current license in the State of Colorado.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience in the operating room/recovery room/critical care, with 3 years in a management position preferred.
  • Must be BLS, ACLS certified.

  • Works at Denver Eye Surgeons, 3772 Denver West Parkway, Building 55, Ste 100, Lakewood, CO 80401
  • This is a Full-Time Position.
  • Compensation for this role will be $103,000 - $120,000 annually based on experience/certification.
