The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! is NYC’s longest-running, free performance festival, and a beloved summer tradition featuring approximately 30 varied large-scale performances and attracting upwards of 200,000 people each summer to the Prospect Park Bandshell.



About the Stagehand (Technical Services)  BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Role: 



BRIC seeks a Stagehand (Technical Services), BCB whose responsibilities include rigging sound, lighting, and other equipment, following the Technical Director’s instructions, assisting performers load in & load out, and setting up plus striking stage between performances. This person is a part of the production team and is committed to high-level production values, safety, and will contribute to a positive artist, audience, and staff experience



What You’ll Do in the Role:




The Stagehand (Technical Services) will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Technical Director, BCB:



  • Making set adjustments when necessary.

  • Moving, setting up, and testing lighting, sound, props, backline, and other equipment according to set requirements.

  • Assist with loading in and loading out performers.

  • Work with lighting and sound teams on rigging all instruments 

  • Ensure all venue structures are properly secured and rigged

  • Experience & Qualifications:

    • 3 years experience in theatrical production, or the equivalent.

    • Proficiency in theatrical production standards.

    • Theatrical Rigging experience 

    • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds using proper technique 

    • Willingness to work outdoors, early mornings, late nights, long days, and weekend shifts, and to work in inclement weather.



  • Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven leader who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization, and provide feedback and coaching to support the achievement of goals. Highly skilled communicator and relationship builder, both individually and in large audiences or public communications.

  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.   




Other Things to Know:





  • Compensation: The salary for this position is $25/hr. 

  • Status and location: This is a seasonal role based at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park. 

  • General schedule:

    • May 5 - June 6 (Load In: Mon-Fri. 8 hrs/ day)

    • June 7 - August 24 

    • August 25 - September 4 (Load Out: 8 -10 consecutive 8 hrs/ day, exact dates TBD)
