Job Description - Starter



Full-time, Part-time


Description

Position: Starter

Reports To: 1st Assistant Golf Professional

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that all members and guests are provided with excellent customer service every day.
  • Control the pace of play by directing players to the first tee at appropriate times.
  • Provide information regarding course conditions, pace of play and other golf-related issues.

Interaction:

Frequent interaction: with members and guests

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Verifies that all revenues and cart numbers have been properly recorded on the tee sheet.
  • Keeps assistant Golf Professional informed about pace of play on course.
  • Always maintains a clean and orderly appearance of the starter building and Staging area
  • Arranges players in proper starting order and assigns appropriate tees (if needed)
  • Assigns carts.
  • Supplies players with score cards, pencils, sand, towels, water, ice, and conditions of play
  • Perform all work-related duties as assigned by supervisor, Head Professional, or General Manager.
  • Starters may also perform the following duties:  Ensure members’ and guests’ bags are appropriately placed on carts.

Working Conditions:

Exposed to environmental changes in weather when working outside.

  • Must follow instructions from Assistant Professionals, Head Professional, and General Manager
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner to members, guests and staff.
  • Ability to arrive at work on time.
  • Ability to interact well with co-workers.
  • Ability to follow posted rules and procedures.

  • Hearing and talking sufficiently to communicate with members, guests and co-workers.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, vision ability to read, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to push, pull or lift to 50 lbs.
  • Independent mobility through clubhouse
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle and must possess a driver’s license.
